What I have been doing
Film producers spend a good deal of time and money making getting a fluent shot. Whether it is panning to a new scene or zooming in at the right time. After Effects has a limited 3d world but it is absolutely amazing what you can do with it in terms of placing your virtual video camera where you want it.
I found a free plug-in from video copilot called sure target (sure target plug-in download) that makes it even easier to control the view or your world while still using null objects. Especially since the view of the world you...
So many sliders! I am sure I will have plenty of 'experiments' to post on this one!
It looks cool but I was not trying for this effect. Still trying to get the hang of things.
Here is a looping sequence of flipping tiles or squares made with after effects that we displayed on our netbook pcs we were giving away at our booth.
I figured I have done enough 'fun' stuff and need to get adobe after effects basics down.
The particles that come with AE cs4 are pretty impressive. My biggest obstacle right now is how to move the camera around quickly and 'ease'ily. I am doing better. I figured out that if you attach a camera to a null object it removes the complexity if you simply move the null object around.
Video Copilot Basic Training
This may look really simple but it took me 2 hours. :
There is absolutely no information or results performed on the quadro vs gaming cards so I went through the trouble.
I purchased 2 quadro fx 4500 video cards off of ebay for these tests.
Obviously the GTX 260 beats the evga 8800 GTS but the 8800 does the trick! The Quadro enhances nothing for my computing needs and bottle necks performance because of its dated components. ( Graphics workstation, mainly photoshop and after effects for now)
$200 for a used 4500 Quadro and $130 for a new 8800 GTS
QUADRO VS GEFORCE
Test results ran from:
CPU:i7
RAM:12 Gig DDR3
Display = 2 monitors at 1920x1080

Hilltop Gold Exchange is up and running. They buy any kind of precious metal.
Gold prices are at a high while the U.S. dollar is at a low. So alot of people in this area are cashing in while the time is right.
I added a function that tracks where a user entered the site so the owner will know where his inquiries are coming from.
Here is more fun with particular. A tutorial from aetuts.com helped me create this effect. Here is my finished ae file for those of you who like to cheat. :) download aetut
Spent last weekend in San Francisco with beezwax and fmnexus.. Filemaker plugin software and consulting.
Also got to see Randy Hill, an old PenSoft co-worker. He is doing great since moving there 3 years ago. We had some drinks and he showed me around as much as he could for the 5 hours i had.
Me and Randy (Can you tell who the tourist is?)
Another interesting thing happened as soon as I got to the hotel. Right outside the hotel Local 2 was holding a strike for Hotel Workers. Police escorted mob chanting 'Local 2' 'Local 2'
Thank god I am home. I...
Cheap After Effects Thrills. I have not had as much time as I have wanted to devote to motion graphics lately. I ran across this ae tunnel tutorial and thought I would share. The possibilities are intimidating with after effects. You really have to have the mathematical side of the brain to complete the other half. Sort of like Adobe Flash but this has sooo many more possibilities.
I finished a new website this weekend for a local company JClydeGoldExchange.com
It was a fun project as was www.autohausva.com
What could be better than building websites with Gold and Expensive cars? Not much in my world!
Hampton Roads ( Chesapeake, Virginia Beach, Hampton, Newport News, Portsmouth )is a very properous place to live.
Since nobody really visits this site, im gonna make it more into a journal for selfish reasons.
Last wednesday my bike started smoking white smoke while in a pack of riders and lost power. Yay
It was hot as hell as I fixed my Daytona 955i motorcycle today. That is what I miss about my Suzuki 05 500cc cycle.. no maintenance, the trade off of horsepower for a 2 year older bike.
Anyways... I fixed a ground fault between the ecm to the sub-harness connector that went to the second fuel injector. (The bike has 3 cylinders) The internet is a grand...
My bike is 5th in pic
Horrible snap. But last wednesday Whit and I rode with a new group of riders. From wawa to hooters to the beach again. (The BP gas station on the strip) Live music was playing in neptune park. They were great. They sounded EXACTLY like the Eagles. The Eagles Tribute Band
I met some local motorcycle riders on meetup.com. Rode a couple hours on Sat and most of Sunday.
My arms are burnt but it was a nice time.
Justin.. co-worker Whitney and a few other riders.
Virginia Beach oceanfront gas station stop.
Riding off-road motorcycles when i was younger has to be one of the largest repititious adrenaline rushes I have ever experienced in my life. I have recently rejuvinated that same spirit I had when I was younger by upgrading my Motorcycle. I sold my bike I have had for about a year now. (Suzuki GS500F Black bike shown below) The reason being is that it has the Sport bike look but actual Sportbikes have 80-180 Horsepower. This bike is good for traiing at 50 hp. So with roughly the same amount of money I sold my suzuki, I got the...
More After Effects fun. I can easily say that this was only fun to film. Light Sabers in After Effects are tedious to say the least. AJ loves it! That is what counts.. I think.
Ok I was going to take a break away from Adobe After Effects tonight. But hey its the weekend why not play some more.
This is what I came up with after using the 'Trapcode Particular' effect in After Effects. You can do everything from that magical dust looking logo in my previous video post to realistic explosions. As seen here. I will tell you that mastering the settings would take more time than I am comfortable using right now. So this does not look as realistic as I might have hoped but here I am Exploding in my foyer. KA...
This came out about 400 times better than i anticipated. Pretty niffy effect with lights cameras and particle engines.
Last night after yelling cuss words for 3 hours solid. I finally started to learn how the After Effects environment works. For those of you not into this stuff ill try to make it simple. Adobe photoshop is used to manipulate photos and make nice 2d images. Adobe Premiere is used to edit movies. Adobe After Effects is used to add simulated effects to 2d and 3d parts for movies. Sooo.. After Effects is like using photoshop filters but in real time and in a 3d environment.

Michelin is supposed to release this new 'tweel' tire to the public this year some time.
Made me wonder what it would look like with different wheels so I photoshopped it real quick.
Obviously the wheels for the tweel tire will need to be smaller than ordinary wheels, so these may look distorted because i downsized the wheels.
< i like the 4th and 6th wheel with the tweel tire
Christmas was great at Dads house. Chris Stacey and I visited for a week. (Still waiting on photos)
We visited the grandparents, Uncle Kane and Pam, and Aunt Jill and Rick.
Cody received a small LCD tv from me for Christmas and Alexis got a nice coat and some KU stuff.
Becki's grandma Bonnie was kind enough to email me some photos of Cody's and Alexis's Christmas Morning.
Alexis, Becki, Cody
Cody opening presents.
Nice hat.
Cody, Alexis and Becki all came by plane to visit Virginia!
We rode the rudy rocket (Val a co-worker came too), we went put put golfing in the jungle , Cody, Alexis and Becki got to see the ocean and play in the sand for the first time.
Before Cody got soaked to the bone on the rocket
Cape Henry Lighthouses
Val (CDYNE) on the 2500 HP Rudy Rocket
We also went parasailing at rudee inlet. (Cody, Alexis and myself) Yipee Now that was cool. The view was like of a plane, you could see the entire coastal city and how it vanished into regular land, and...
AJ and Cody got Nintendo DSs for Christmas.
Christy got me Guitar lessons. Yay!
I hope my arthritis agrees!
On another note, AJ got call of Duty 4 and Command and Conquer 3 for xbox 360. He is in love with strategy and shoot em up type of games. We try our best not to let the xbox babysit but it is proving to be hard because he has so many freinds his age on xbox live. There is nothing in life like a little freindly competition to make you work a little harder for things.
Here are some snaps of...
This morning AJ was complaining about his first loose tooth. I was going to pull it with some pliers so he said "NO WAAAY DAD" and pulled it himself. See the video below. ;)
We go about once a month to feed the ducks. I need to track down the older pics but here are some pics from today, and a few pics of Saba our beautiiful bengal all grown up. ;)
And learned how to swim without his vest!!!!!!!!!!!!!! sniff sniff
Together, Jim and Melissa's brother taught him everything he knows!
Going for the catch!
We went to the zoo, sung karaoke, ate at the beach (The Raven) and watched fireworks in downtown Norfolk.

Cody rode every ride. His favorite was the Boomerang... mine was the Mamba.
Sorry this is so short. I am pooped. Cody is a machine! Gnite.
June 29th I flew here to pick up Cody at Camp. (athletic day care) We went shopping for clothes against what he wanted. I tried to explain to him that he would get a lot of 'cool' presents from other family members. lol He wasn't to into it but loves the shoes! Yesterday I went to Becki's side of the family Birthday party at Kill Creek Park Shelter 1. I felt very out of place but it went better then I imagined it would. I met a couple of old friends. Cody got an Radio Sack Remote Controlled insect that...
Alot has happened since my last post so I will try to sum it up. The stuff I leave out will be sprinked throughout future postings.
I am no longer the Director of Information Technology at CI Travel. I reluctantly gave my 1 month notice in hopes of making a family dream come true. Chris and I have always had dreams that one day we would own a business. It looks like his hard work and dedication has finally afforded him the possibilty to make that dream come true. It is called cdyne Corporation. He has been working to make it succeed for...
Work has been very busy for me. But I love staying busy. Maybe its because I am so busy that it seems like weeks are days, or maybe its the fact that I am not 20 any more. I hear that it only gets worse with age. I hope this isnt true.
Christy and I have a new family member!
It is a kitty, we named him saba he is only like 7 weeks old. We decided that it would be best to wait on a little one until Credit Cards are payed off and we are financially/mentally ready. etc etc We are...
It used to be called Virginia Marine Science Museum but I guess they could'nt get enough funds or something or other to call themselves that.
They own the largest Aquarium in Virginia and have several different types of sharks inside of it.
We learned Sharks lose about 30,000 teeth in a lifetime (2,000) a year When they lose a tooth the next one is already grown and comes up much like a revolver puts a new bullet in the chamber.

Ok I am going to try to get Christy to be a little more active. I think she said she would but well see. Hehe love you baby!
Here is a sketch I drew in a meeting about the 'big' travel sale that is going to be in Pembroke mall in a couple weeks on a weekend. Kevin McElroy and Victoria Cash. Both dont look anything like the above.
Wally Torta is the only reason I put this crap up. I wish I could draw like him. But I cant so I will put up anything that I actually take the time...
Today we went to the Hunt Farm right down the street from our new house here in Virginia Beach. I will be posting photos of the new house before and after really soon. We are all moved in with about 15 unpacked boxes still floating around.
I have just recently been promoted at my job! WooHoo.. hard work actually does pay off. More on this later.
Christy has about 2 weeks before Alex Charles Chenoweth enters our world. We are all very excited. I think Zoey even knows what is going on.
Wedding pictures also coming soon. I know I know.. I posted my Brother...
Our 1st lamaze class was Saturday morning. It went great! (remember the baby is due Nov 8th)
We took a trip down to North Carolina ( Coralla, NC Outer Banks )
Mandy's ( Jays wife as of today) parents rented 2 beach houses (pictures below are of the house Christy and I stayed in) It was beuatiful! I went in the hot tub, we went to the lighthouse down the street had ping pong tournaments with John, Christy's uncle. All of the kids were at our beach house which was 6 miles from the beach house they rented for the wedding.
Christy's grandma...
Three Oaks in Virginia Beach is close to Red Mill. (schools)
AJ is a very lucky little boy, not only is the school brand spanking new but it is also technologically advanced. Dell Computers and Projectors in every classroom. A computer Lab to die for. And enthusiastic teachers. Computer Lab teacher 'These kids are creating high end power point presentations by 5th grade'
His Teacher is very outspoken and energetic. She really sounds like she loves the kids and knows how to communicate with them. How awesome is that? (Miss Walters)
Click for more photos of AJ on his very 1st school day...
We will be moving to ocean lakes in a couple of months!
Great schools! Christy's family is also less then 5 minutes away.
Christy is elated.. she hasnt slept more then 4 hours a night for a couple nights now.
Feels great knowing that your kids will be growing up in a good enviornment.. is there much more you can ask out of life?
I cant stop myself from wanting land. I really can't afford it right now but we went to look at 10 acres in North Carolina today. OMG I am so in love. AJ was running around interested in most simple things from the dragon flies and grass hoppers to his explorative side that made him pick up a stick and start to roam the land with it.I know I sound goofy but it reminds me of how great it was growing up in the middle of nowhere. Stress free. I believe there is a certain respect for life gained when you grow...
Ok Ok I think everyone has let their guards down at one time or another and found themselves tantalized by an infommercial. That being said, I finally called after watching 20 minutes of this 'revolutionary tooth whitening system' using 'light technology'
Boy do I feel like a real jack@ss with the light doomaflippy thingy hanging out of my mouth.
I speant arounf $50 for 2 boxes of this crap. And let me tell you.. it is crap. I will update this section if any results change.. but as far as I can see now, this system will do as good as about...
Christy AJ Freddy Walt and I watched fireworks from the top of the downtown norfolk parking garage across from my old work place at Stratum. It was great $5 to park and that was it.. not bugs no crowds in the way etc etc plus when it was over we got in the car and was home in 15 minutes. I will have to remember that trick for next year!
Here is the finale courtesy of videographer Freddy Keown.
AJ is excited about plenty of things lately. Today Christy and AJ went to enroll him in Kindergarten. He also helped dad put together a baby crib. Tonight we will tackle the baby swing, I know I know, we are getting ready a little bit early. But its better early then late the way I see it, plus it makes Christy feel a little better I think having baby stuff in the apartment.
Christy is doing very well with considering all the bouncing hormones. I never know what to expect when I come home. But never the less I am always elated to...
We are thinking Alexander Charles or maybe Alexander Michael
Any thoughts? <i know no one take me seriously when I ask.. but I thought I would ask one last time.
Once again I apologize for not updating this blog. ;(
We are having an engagement party this weekend in downtown Norfolk.
Christy keeps growing... her job is getting to be a little bit to physical for her at WALMART <lifting and such ,so we are contemplating her taking a leave of absence till after the baby is here.
Baby Names.. I like Alex for a boy.. Christy wants a girl names Cassandra.. any comments?

We had to go purchase a new washer/dryer set yesterday because our washer decided to stop spinning. I personally think the old thing was ready to go.
In other news. I start a new job in May as webmaster/web programmer for CI Travel ! Stratum is a great enviornment and working for such a creative team was very rewarding in many ways, but a marketing atmosphere gets very demanding at times as there are numerous deadlines that may need to be met and the only time to make sure this gets done is on nights and weekends. My new life with a...
Google has been the pinnacle on the World Wide Web for connecting people, businesses and idea. Google recently released its version of mapquest. You can see Google Maps at http://maps.google.com They have used technology that is beyond any mapquest or yahoo map. Two ways you can see this is by clicking the sattelite link on the top right of the page that will give you a sattelite view of your plotted directions and/or by clicking in the center of any map a dragging it around. The superfast speeds of Google will soon be the standard. The satellite feature is kind of...

That is not how you spell chucke cheese, but you would be surprised how many people search MSN spelling it wrong.. I get like 300 people a week visiting my site from this mistake.. take a look, I am # 4 on the search list >( MSN ) My computer is fried so you wont get the whole bday video yet.. only the drive to chuckee cheese as follows. (Mom, I would love to know if you can see this video below!)
For people that don't know who Wally is.. it is Walt Taylor, Norfolks finest Creative Director. Not just my opinion.
Anyways.. noticed he was trying out watercolor again for his blog when he skipped lunch today.. pretty cool I thought so I took a snap when he was working. I am guessing you will see the work posted at http://crackskullbob.squarespace.com/

We gave AJ one toy and a cake with his name on it on the 16th.. we are finishing his Birthday today at Chuckee Cheese, he is so excited. Crystal and her kids will be there as well as Papa, Melissa and Freddy. I will bring the camcorder to see if I can get some blog video. ;)

was the first time I met Christy. PRA was a filler job for me until I found a web design job.
I played black jack for tickets. Jim, Christy's dad won a bunch of hands and gave me the tickets. I ended up winning a Motown DVD during the drawing giveaway. Havent watched it yet.. but I still have it! Anyways I pulled the below casino voucher out of my suit jacket and it brought back memories, thought i'd share.
Going over to Christy's dads house for dinner to share some more news, I will share this news with everyone when we get back!
Team Work... AJ drew some scribbles on the back of a d'egg menu.. I took over and tried to draw Christy.. and failed so Christy tightened it up to look like this. Autographs by appointment only. Don't be jealous Walt! ;)
What a cute little hound dog!
AJ is consumed by Houdini's every movement.. everything is great except for potty problems.
MOre photos coming soon!
I attended the 2005 Addy Awards last night (best of 2004). Most of us from Stratum attended, below are a few pictures of us. The theme was from the Wizard of Oz “Wizard of Ads” Walt, my Creative Director contributed the Addy Showbook cover, invitations, and email campaign artwork. I was introduced to alot of highly respected people thanks to Walt. ;) Oh.. and Sue Fay was there! ;)

Work seems to be going well. ;) You can thank Wally Torta for this one. I am trying not to take offense to the way he sees my nose job... Life goes on.
If you didn't read my comment on the bottom chuckee cheese post, then you don't know that we decided to sell The little puppy pit bull, I put in ad in the newspaper and the 1st guy that called came and looked at him and bought him for his girlfriend that had the same look on her face when she saw him as Christy 1st did. I feel good knowing he will be just as loved as if we decided to keep him.
Even though we were probably irresponsible about the decision to get little Alex I feel we did the right...
Walt took this pic of me yesterday..
This post is a dissapointment.. I know
But anyways.. got a call on the puppy.. a guy is coming at 6pm to look at him and hopefully buy.
In other news, Christy got a new cell phone, she loves it (it has a camera and bluetooth, and it isnt a flip phone that she so desperately hates) this is what it looks like
Also Christy inquired about getting AJ's last name changed to KEOWN.. I'm ecstatic and am hopeful that this can go through before he starts his 1st year of school.
Here are some photos from yesterday (we went with Christy's friend Crystal and her kids and man) and a few photos from the day before with the doggy.
My co-worker / mentor Walt Taylor finally got his blog up! Anyways.. it's called Wally Torta because that is his other personality that takes no resposibilty for anything, so he assumes he can say anything he wants. Go check it out from time to time, he promises not to miss 1 day of updating. www.wallytorta.com (you will find the link avlb at all times in the right column) Walt has helped me see things in the creative world that would have taken me years to learn by myself. I respect his love for his work and the everyday passion he has for...
AJ has been so good that mom offered to get him a kitty because there just isnt enough room here for a dog. We searched a good 4 hours for kittens yesterday and came home empty handed, we did find a beagle, but it was a mix and already bigger then a beagle at 4 months old (plus one of the kids while we were there said “he bites“)
Christy really wanted a little puppy so I looked in the paper because we really couldnt afford a pet store dog at 500 to 1k dollars.
OMG, I can't believe I agreed to...
AJ has proven he is a “good boy” Christy is elated that her calendar system is working.
AJ has only recently learned to make lines mean something and color in the lines.. its pretty cool to see him advance in so many ways.
Ok dinner is done, I better get my butt in there in eat!
I hope everyone is doing fine.
Here is my pretty little kitty, notice her beautiful green eyes..
More stuff coming soon! I PROMISE!
It is still very cold here in Virginia, we are ready for some warm weather. Everyone at out place is finally getting over a coughing sickness. Ok on to good news, my job is going great, I am currently creating a little bundle flash kids games.. crossword, paint by click, puzzles, etc. Pretty interesting how powerful Flash actually is.
Better news, AJ has been doing better at school. Christy made a little calendar system on the refrigerator that AJ gets to put a sticker and a happy face on for everyday he is good, if he gets 5 good days at...
Walt has these near his desk, he always has something weird hanging around.
Little late on this but here is AJ singing away. :)
^here is AJ and his friend Kyle.
We have the place all situated.. thank goodness! My job is going great, I will be busy with more interesting and creative projects. I am working on matthew fine scuplture currently.
AJ is one happy little boy and adjusting rather well with a few minor listening problems at pre-school. We decided to get rid of cable television and got a blockbuster rent two movies at any time pass, I am not sure how good this will work out, but it feels like a good idea at the moment. It has already increased motivation for everyone here.
Christy has her resume out and...
We are all bundled up and going out to play in the snow (the snow is thick and packing!).. I am hoping that the snow will let up so I can see my dad and marcia again one last time before they leave tonight.
here is a shot of us on Christmas eve going out to Bakers Crust for dinner>
here is a video of AJ's “BIG DAY“>

We all went to the Nutcracker tonight. AJ had a blast! I thought he was going to have a problem sitting still, but he loved all the colors and dancing! Chris and Stacey were working the ticket booth and Jim (Christy's dad) did crowd control. Christy's step mother; Melissa, gave a very nice performance.
For all who are interested: Jim is the President and Chris is the Secretary of Capa Fund, an organization that helps provide support for children interested in performing arts. Below you can see the lobby fillng up at CNU (Christopher Newport University)

We are all moved in, I had to take off a hlaf day of work to get things situated because the office gave Christy some problems.. mainly being that I had not signed the lease yet.. I will try to be positive here but I am sure everyone knows how negative a moving experience can be. The new place is still piled with boxes but we managed to set up 2 beds last night after calling emergency maintance for a water leak (the kitchen faucet sprayed everywhere when we turned it on, then the bottom leaked when turning the main...
It turns out that a 1992 Oldsmobile Toronado Trofeo is somewhat of a collectors car, they were a little over $30,000 when they were new and way ahead of their time.. 92 was the last year they made them and there were 1200 produced. I know.. big whoopie, but this guy Dave North from New York has an absolute passion for these cars.. so I know she is in good hands! He sent me pics of her when he got home see below (he said his wife constantly tells him hes crazy for this passion and wishes he would look...
This will be a quick update.
Sorry I havent updated this in awhile, I have no internet connection at home for now.We move into the new place on the 14th, thank the good lord that Jim and Melissa gave us an early Christmas present called two men in a truck.
I sold my car on ebay a couple days ago :( , so I will be driving the station wagon.. yaaaay call me STATION WAGON MAAAAN! I need to get a tight superman t-shirt.. you know the kind.. with a big S in the middle
It got 10 bids with 1 day...
I heard Walt giggling when I had a conversation with my lil darlin this morning.. So he sent me this.. LOL
Mary our cleaning lady is sporting a new look.(new hair style) She is always so happy and loveable so I thought I would add her pic!
Christy and I are moving out together into the dockside apartments on Military highway. They have this big banner on the side of one of the apartment building that reads "If you lived at Dockside, you'd be home by now" That scared me.. but the place seems to be pretty nice.. health facility,...
We had a great time at Christy's parents house, excellent gravy! Melissa's parents were over and eventually my brother showed up. Freddy and J were there too.(Christy's brothers) We all got our hand singing kareoke, it was a good night.
Unfortunetely Christy has work today because it is one of Walmart's busiests days all season, so she left at like 5 am and daycare was not open yet, so Will has AJ today at work, Wlat and I are the only ones working today and he doesnt mind having the distraction around so it turned out to be a pretty good day.

Thanksgiving is coming soon.....
Christy is a wonderful woman and she gives me allot of life, I thought this light would dwindle but it proves to get stronger everyday, I can't imagine not having this pretty little lady by my side now. She puts up with allotta crap and still remains to smile and have an optimistic outlook. I love you baby! And you too little AJ!
So we have been throwing around living together for about 3 weeks and finally decided to make it a go, it is going to be hard financially on us both, but...

This past weekend we attended an event that surrounded my building in downtown Norfolk, The Grand Illumination Parade. Much to my surprise, there were thousands of visitors, most of which spent most of the night trying to park.
The parade had band talent from schools all over the area and included numerous interesting lighted floats from a gecko to a chik fil a cow. AJ had a blast! Christy had fun and will survived his nose pain.
Aww, I don't know if its all this pain medication or what the deal is.. but I am feeling kinda loved,
Take a look see what team Stratum did for me
